Youth Guest Houses in Japan
Youth Guest Houses are a new type of Youth Hostel which cater for groups of 2-6 people. The main room has a bathroom, luggage area and lounge area. At the moment there are about ten places in Japan with this type of housing available: Two in Hokkaido and Tokyo and one in Karuizawa, Yamanashi, Narita, Fukuoka and Kagawa prefectures.
A Youth Guest House has several advantages (or creature comforts) over normal Youth Hostels. The main differences between a Youth Guest House and a youth hostel or guest houses are:
1. There is a key to lock your door
2. A private room with one bed and a sink.
At at Youth hostel there is usually no key, no sink and you sleep on bunk beds.
Prices
Depending on the type of Youth Guest Hostel you visit and the type of room you want, prices vary from about 3,700 and 7,800 yen. But, if you go in a group and are a member, the prices are usually around 3,500 – 5,000 yen. In general, youth guest houses in Japan cost 5,000-6,500 yen/night with two meals. Average prices for youth guest hotels are about:
4,500 yen or less with bath, toilet and sink
4,000 or less with Toilet and sink.
3,500 yen or less with sink only
